AJZaurusUSB for Intel

CDC Ethernet USB driver kernel extension for MacOS X to interface Sharp Zaurus, iPAQ, Motorola A780 etc.

AJZaurusUSB for Intel

Postby noir on Tue Jul 18, 2006 11:24 am

Hello.

I've downloaded AJZaurusUSB 0.3.2 for Intel and installed it
to my MacBook. I've been waiting for it a month!

But... I could not access my Zaurus (SL-C3000).
I checked system.log, where there are many messages left
by AJZaurusUSB. Here is a part of them.

I think it was installed properly - but since we have not tested much, that might be one of the issues.

You could try to compile it yourself on your machine. I have posted instructions at http://www.oesf.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=19372

Thank you for your advice!

Now I uninstalled the binary distribution, followed the steps
to build from the source, did "make load," and connected
my MacBook with Zaurus via USB 2.0 cable.

The result was the same; Ping couldn't go through the network.
AJZaurusUSB left error messages on system.log.

Postby chrisl on Thu Jul 27, 2006 5:58 am

That is the same errors I had when I installed the the ppc-based driver.

Hm...

The source is showing that this message is printed in the merWriteComplete callback function. And this probably means that parameter passing on the stack is not working properly. Especially the strange io err value is an indicator.

And, it might not be 64bit safe.

Same result here.

I'm getting the same result at my end. The driver loads, and it knows that there's a Zaurus connected to the dock (the network interface turns on at the Mac end). But I can't ping one host from the either.

strange

Postby chrisl on Fri Sep 08, 2006 5:44 am

About a month ago, I compiled my own AJZaurusUSB binary from source on my MacBook Pro. Since then my mac recognizes my Z (SL-5500) and will go as far as telling me when it is plugged in and what my IP number is. Howerver, I can do nothing with it. It will not load as a smb voulume, will not sync with the sharp pims nor anything else. It will load as usb mass storage, but it was doing that before I compiled the driver.

It certainly would be nice to make this driver work. I then could sync kopi with korganizer on my mac using kitchen sync or even my Sharp PIM with Qtopia desktop.

Hi,
yes we know and a new version (with some internal improvements) is in preparation...
It will be a Universal Binary and the PPC part is working mostly, but it needs testing and tracing down the bugs on an Intel Mac.
Unfortunately we still wait for the new MacBook Pro with Merom processor to come...

Same here

Postby matthis on Mon Nov 20, 2006 4:19 am

Hello,

I was having the same problems as described above, and I am glad to know that a new version is on its way! (Perhaps the current version should be removed from the download page in order to avoid confused users..)

Thank you for your hard work

I am now debugging a universal binary on PowerPC and Intel Macs - and the new version does no longer Kernel Panic but still does not work yet :( It sends and receives something but that is not recognized by the TCP/IP layer. Debugging a communication driver is very challenging - even when doing remote kernel debugging by using two connected Macs.
