Can't even get connected...

Postby Guest on Fri Oct 08, 2004 4:52 pm

Howdy,
I'm stuck. Even before I can load stuff, the SMB step isn't working.

Here's the step where it stops:

5. In the Server Connection window, type in smb://ZAURUS/ or smb://192.168.129.201/ and Connect.

This either hangs (if I use the IP) or gives me an error (Error code -36) if I use the name.

I have tried adding a TCP/IP connection to the Network control panel on the Zaurus. I have tried doing it right after hitting "Synch". I have tried switching the "PC Link" settings to both USB choices (USB I/O and USB-TCP/IP). I have tried turning on internet sharing on the ethernet connection that appeared on my mac after I installed the package.

Other stuff to try? I can't ping the Zaurus either.

I also tried

I found the latest version of the USB driver

http://www.lucid-cake.net/osx_zaurus_usb/index_en.html

That didn't help, however.

Found out how to configure the network connection...

Using the instructions at:

http://www.lucid-cake.net/osx_zaurus_usb/index_en.html

I was able to configure the port correctly in the network control panel.
Now I can PING my Zaurus! Progress has been made!

I still can't smb in, as your install instructions imply.
The name ZAURUS or zaurus still just gives me a -36 error.

Now the IP address gives me a "name and password were incorrect" error.
Which is really weird because it never asks me for a password...

saga continues

Okay, this worked:
smb://username:password@server

I used "guest" as the username and left the password blank, then used the IP as the server.

NEW PROBLEM:
When I run the ZMacSync program, and try to get it to Sync, I get:
commit error Zaurus-1

As I've continued to fiddle around, I've noticed that I get the above error when NOTHING is selected under the Zaurus settings.

If anything is selected in the Zaurus settings, instead I get this error:
"Data from Zaurus not Available"

I have tried this various ways, and tried it once while I was clicking the "Sync" button on the Zaurus or initiating a Sync from the PC Link Control Panel.

Still no luck...

I've used guest and root, no difference. I've left the password field blank.

Hi,
that looks strange behaviour. To better understand your problem please tell which Zaurus model and which ROM you are using.

I use an iBook with OSX10.3.6
