Almost working with Rel 1.5.2

Almost working with Rel 1.5.2

Postby ianwj on Sun Jan 16, 2005 7:46 am

I have a Zaurus SL5600. Have downloaded and installed R1.5.2. The ZMacSync app exhibits the following (when set only to sync Address Book):

Opens OK on the Mac and flags the following msgs on the info panel:
1. Zaurus.conduit initialized
2. Zaurus-1 became available
3. Fetching Local-1 data... (with the moving barbers pole)
However at this point the connection drops and shows: Data from Zaurus-1 not available.
Can get into Zaurus via ssh (as per trouble shooting info) and have executed all the other info in Troubleshooting section of the docs. I have only installed zmacsync_1.5.2_arm.ipk on the Z. (dtm2xml_1.7_arm.ipk and openssh-server_3.6.1p1_arm.ipk are loaded on the Z but NOT installed). Have I got this right? Any clues?. Thx.
PS: Here is the Console log file.

Hi,

I had a similar 'dtm2xml -a failed' failed error. It was solved by opening up a terminal in the Zaurus and typing:
dtm2xml reset database

After wards, I rebooted and ZMacSync found the data on the Zaurus.

Hope this helps.

This is the critical message indicating that the DTM database is damaged. It appears to happen rather often - and nobody knows why. What I suspect is that a crashing application or forcing power down might result in this.
2005-01-16 13:59:09.490 ZMacSync[841] waiting for data stream to finish.
2005-01-16 13:59:09.491 ZMacSync[841] terminated with error (<CFArray 0x1effc0 [0xa01900e0]>{type = immutable, count = 3, values = (

)})
2005-01-16 13:59:09.491 ZMacSync[841] writeStatus: dtm2xml -a failed
2005-01-16 13:59:09.602 ZMacSync[841] Failed to read all records for Zaurus-1

This finally leads to dtm2xml -a failed.

So, the only recommendation is to use dtm2xml reset database

You can do it in a Zaurus terminal as 'tony' recommends. Or you can do it through ssh.

ZMacSync

Although ZMacSync works, there are still a lot of spinning beach balls even when just firing up the app on the Mac and waiting for it to connect to the Z (via the USB port).
That seems to be related to the USB driver.
I have the personal impression that it seems to be somewhat less stable on 10.3.6 and 10.3.7 than before. And a known issue is that it does not gracefully handle sleep mode of either a Powerbook/iBook or the Zaurus.
Sometines switching off and on Airport and/or the Zaurus for several seconds fixes a stuck USB driver.

Regarding iCal sync there is one crucial aspect still missing: handling of recurring events. So, if you have a recurring event starting in 2003 and repeating every year, it won't show up un 2004, 2005 etc.

We are still working on that and think that we now have understood all the special cases of iCalendar (rfc2445) to come up with a correct implementation.
