All about Syncing the Mac with a Sharp Zaurus

2.0.3 released

Postby hns on Thu Nov 10, 2005 10:49 am

Dear all,

it is some time ago that we released version 2.0.3 which fixes up some slight glitches we have encountered.

Now, we are heading for a 2.1 release which aims at real bidirectional sync. Unfortunately, although the SyncServices.framework is well documented, it is very complicated to properly translate records from the Zaurus to the format the Mac expects. We have to take care about a large number of special cases (e.g. deleting the street address completely, into which iCal are new calendar entries on the Zaurus going to, etc.) to avoid that records are being duplicated or get lost. This is a slow, evolutionary, experimental process and therefore we can't promise when we are finished.

So, please refer to http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/23274
or http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/23274
for more details and download links.

ZMacSync hangs when syncing iCal to SL-C3200

Postby tachyon on Sat Apr 08, 2006 3:11 am

Thanks and great tool! ZMacSync hangs, however, when I tried to sync-refresh the iCal, I have to kill the process after an hour or so of waiting.

Systems:

Zaurus: SL-C3200 (ROM version 1.01JP)
Mac: iMac G5 (PPC), OS 10.4.6

Hm. Difficult to say what the reason is.

While it hangs, can you open a new terminal/ssh session to the Zaurus?
That is to distinguish if it is the IPoverUSB driver (AJZaurusUSB) or really the ZMacSync application.

ZMacSync Hangs on iCal

Postby Ross Olson on Sat May 20, 2006 12:21 am

I too am having issues with getting iCal to sync. My address book comes over, but the process hangs at the Calendars. The Calendar/Datebook then refuses to launch until I delete the config file at:

/home/zaurus/Applications/dtm/SLDATE*.*

I will follow this up with a Console dump.

Also, it is only the Calendar sync that is the issue. The other syncs work and complete just fine...

Console dump

When syncing *only* the calendars, the process completes but no calendars are transferred. Here is the console:

Works (kind of)

Postby Adam on Thu Aug 31, 2006 10:12 am

The good:
Address books syncs, iCal syncs (kind of)
The not-as-good:
Synced calendar events are now labeled as "all day" on the Zaurus. Hmm.
